Naremburn to Sydney Harbour Bridge Shared Use PathRTA Funding 2010-2011This financial year, 2010-211, RTA has budgeted to construct three sections of shared used path (SUP) along the Warringah Freeway between Miller St, Cammeray and Ridge St, Neutral Bay as follows:
This is very welcome news. It marks progression of the regional routes from Chatswood to Sydney Habour Bridge and North Ryde to Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is confirmation that funding is being directed to this Priority Metropolitan Link identified in the Bike Plan released in May, 2010. The section between Miller St and Ernest St was expected, as part of the Bus Layover Project, now underway. It does though confirm the limitation of that work - from the Miller St on-ramp. It does not include any under or over pass of the Miller St on-ramp nor any work adjacent to the bus layover area to the north west of that on-ramp. We hope that this means a continuous SUP between Miller St, Cammeray and Ridge St, North Sydney but of course there is scope for more blackholes within that description, so here's hoping. Still outstanding as a priority for design and construction is the section between the Brook St on-ramp and Miller St on-ramp which once completed would at least provide a continuous off-road cycling facility from North Ryde almost to North Sydney CBD. TAKE ACTIONPlease send emails expressing support and appreciation, but stressing the need for followup with the section between the Brook St on-ramp and Miller St to
